Polish Academy of Science - Olsztyn and Białystok Branch

The Olsztyn and Białystok Branch of the Polish Academy of Sciences, based in Olsztyn (OOB), was established on 11 December 2014 on the basis of Resolution No. 5/2014 of the General Assembly of the Polish Academy of Sciences. The resolution came into force on 22 January 2015, after approval by the Minister of Science and Higher Education. In accordance with the Statute, granted by Resolution No. 11/2015 of the Presidium of the Polish Academy of Sciences of 10 March 2015 with amendments introduced by Resolution No. 14/2018 of the Presidium of the Polish Academy of Sciences of 22 May 2018, the task of the OOB is to integrate scientific and cultural life in the provinces of Warmia -Masurian and Podlaskie provinces, supporting scientific research of significant importance for the national economy and culture and disseminating its results, cooperating with state and local government authorities and administrations, social organisations and the scientific community, as well as representing this community before the central authorities of the Polish Academy of Sciences. In addition, the OOB will initiate and conduct cooperation with Eastern European countries. The Olsztyn and Białystok branches of the Polish Academy of Sciences currently have 16 members of the Polish Academy of Sciences (9 full members, 7 corresponding members) and 1 member of the Academy of Young Scholars.
